Message From Melissa
I have been an avid birder for awhile now and have spent the last few years pursuing a growing
passion for photographing them. Encouraged by the results, I quickly expanded my repertoire to
capture many other facets of nature: including, butterflies, bugs, and flowers. As many of you know,
I had three very successful shows and exhibits in 2005. Along with these I had a full page spread in
the Greensboro News and Record and was featured on Fox 8’s Roy’s Folks. Thus, I have
started to create a name for myself in the niche of up-close and personal nature photography.
It is difficult to do two things well, at least it is for me, and I have found it nearly impossible
to give either my golf instruction or my photography its full due while trying to do both
simultaneously. Therefore, I am going to take an official hiatus from teaching in order to more fully
pursue my photography. Most of my students know this side of me and are whole-heartedly supportive of
my venture. I am very grateful for their support and encouragement, as well as their undying loyalty
all these years.
If you are in need of a golf instructor, I recommend two of the best, right here in the Piedmont
Triad:
• Mary Beth McGirr of Stoney Creek Golf Club in Sedalia, NC - 336-449-5688
• Andree Martin at Holly Ridge in Archdale, NC – 336-399-4334
You will find these instructors to be of the highest caliber in both teaching skills
and personal rapport. They are active in the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division and
in addition, both have been named Golf For Women Magazine’s Top 50 Women teachers in America.
Needless to say, you will be in good hands.
Note to Current Students
Most of you were aware of my impending hiatus and finished your series of lessons or made
arrangements to finish them at a later date. If you paid for lessons prior to 2005, unless we have
spoken and have an agreement between us, then you are no longer eligible to finish out the series.
All my students know that demonstrating an active commitment to your game by attending your lessons
and practicing what you learn is an important and integral part of my teaching. If you have paid for
lessons but went a year or more without contacting me, then I see that either as a sign of lack of
commitment or they just weren’t a priority. Therefore, I believe that forfeiting them is the correct
thing to do. Please call me if you need to further discuss this policy.
Though I am not teaching in 2006, I will leave portions of my website open for your perusal.
Perhaps there is something in here that might be of help to you and your game regardless of personal
contact with me.
Many thanks for your continued support in my adventures.
Best,
Melissa Whitmire |
